Dave Sitek provides music for Glenn Kaino's In The Light Of A Shadow
Showing currently (until September 22) at The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art - Glenn Kaino : In the Light of a Shadow - inspired by the connection between protests across the globe, specifically those in response to the tragic events known as “Bloody Sunday” from Selma, Alabama and Derry, Northern Ireland. The exhibition spans the entirety of MASS MoCA’s signature football-field sized Building 5 gallery with an immersive installation that explores the power of collective action in forging a more just world. Glenn Kaino is an American conceptual artist and film maker based in Los Angeles a trained sculptor with a background in computer science. With long term friend and collaborator Afshin Shahidi, Kaino recently released film With Drawn Arms which is an intimate conversation with Tommie Smith, the gold medalist who is known for raising his fist after accepting a medal at the '68 Olympic games in protest of racial inequality. Tommie Smith reflects on the moment that helped define a movement. In The Light Of A Shadow upholds and projects Kaino’s progressive values seeking justice and change in a time when social voices like Kaino’s, for exposing inequality, have never been so important.
Dave Sitek is a founding member and songwriter of Grammy nominated New York band TV On The Radio. More recently Sitek can be found writing and producing for Jay Z, Run The Jewels, Little Dragon, Anna Calvi, and Young Fathers plus releasing his own projects Maximum Balloon and most recently THE NEVERLY BOYS
