It’s funny I’ve never paid much attention to music reviews but, having spent the last, ahem nearly 30 years promoting music, here I am putting “pen to paper” once again championing essential listening. I first discovered Rochelle Jordan a few years back via Ninja Tune artist Machinedrum’s short-lived but nonetheless high quality IAMSIAM imprint. Jordan also worked with Childish Gambino and deep house producer Jacques Green. Travis Stewart - Machinedrum - very much playing with the changes here.

Embracing old school vibes Rochelle Jordan’s Something reminds me of a classic Darryl Payne production. Payne a legendary post disco NY producer. The album closes on a high. Situation the lushest and deepest, afro Balearic leaning soundscapes over contrastingly tough mid tempo sublte garage beats and bouncing bass.
