The stripped back Tiny Desk concert format couldn't be any more contrasting to the original Winchester Lady's slick production and indulgent orchestrations. James (and his tight young band) hold their own in performance providing further confirmation of the genius he is. A Bob James and Talib Kweli collab on the cards you say ? Yes please

Flicking back through previous episodes I stumble upon Gary Bartz with a truly spiritual and gospel influenced affair. I've Known Rivers sounding even dreamier than the classic original.

Hat's off NPR Music giving these legends a stage like this !

Both James and Bartz took the Jazz genre into Pop and R&B, expanding the boundaries of Jazz like the Jazz greats that came before them including Ellington who paved the way for the many.
