SOLARI - Hard Town
Hard Town based on a fictional futuristic city. Our main character, Solari, is stuck in a system of commuting (futuristic tube trains) and work. She never sees natural light. Her life is a rat maze that she can’t get out of. Solari feels trapped.
1980s style production. Linn Drum machine and synthesizer stabs from a Roland Jupiter 4. It has a constant beat that represents the pulse of the city. Vocals are tightly doubled between Renée and David. The human/robot feeling of the vocals helps the message of what it is like to live in a big city.
The song is supposed to feel like being on an urban treadmill. It highlights the love/hate relationship many of us have with living and working in cities.
Solari would like people to feel like listening to Hard Town over and over again. It should feel nostalgic and futuristic simultaneously like the biggest cities.
